Sleek

Sleek  –  Pout Paint Review

This is a whole new concept for me but I love it. I received these last week and got round to giving them a go yesterday.

They come in tubes and they are totally mixable. The white one ‘Cloud 9’ is purely for blending purposes although I guess you could use it alone if that’s your thing. I also received ‘Pinkini’, this shade is a little too bright for my liking on its own so I simply blended a bit of Cloud 9 with it to make the shade shown in the photo.

The paint goes a really long way so you only need a tiny amount, I made far too much and ended up with it all over my hand but it’s a lesson learned! I love that you can blend any of the shades to make a totally unique colour for you. The only problem is touching up throughout the day, not only are you unlikely to get the exact same colour again but you also have to carry around all the colours plus a lip brush.  However inconvenient that is, it could also be a lot of fun to change the colour of your lips throughout the day. Plus you have infinite colour possibilities so you don’t need to buy so many lipsticks!

It did last a good 6 hours, I even got through lunch with a fair amount left on, so touch ups really are minimal anyway. It does take a while to dry when you first put it on, I did wonder if it was going to dry at all at one point, once it has dried you can easily pop some Lipcote over the top to hold it on even longer. It gave a lovely matte finish once it was dried and I really did love it on, it’s just a new thing to get used to! It also came out really even and with a good lipbrush it was really easy to apply accurately.

MUA Hide & Conceal Review

Last week I had an emergency situation whilst in town, yup you got it I had a volcano appear on my face and it looked horrendous!

I dashed into the chemist and picked up a 4-hour spot zapping gel but that wasn’t quick enough, I needed something that would hide it and cheap. There was no way I was doing the school run with this on my face… yes I can be a little dramatic when it comes to these things, but seriously it was bad!

2I let out a huge sigh of relief when I spotted MUA’s latest offering.. Hide & Conceal concealer and it was only £1 too.. cheaper than chocolate! After making my purchase I nipped to the ladies room in costa to cover the volcano which had attached itself to my forehead. I was pleasantly surprised that it covered and blended easily and I walked out much more confidently than I went in.

This concealer also lasted really well, even through my repeated application of the spot gel, which by the way was amazing and I’ll review that tomorrow.  This product has been in my handbag ever since, never again will I have an SOS like that!

Top 5 Thursday: Affordable Foundation

1

This week I’m showing you my current top 5 affordable foundations, ones that are easily found on the UK high street and are within everyone’s budget. They may be small in price but each of these is big on covering problem skin.

1 B. Is For Beautiful – B.Flawless Liquid Foundation

I reviewed this product earlier in the week, I love everything about this foundation. It covers dry patches as well as blemishes without leaving  shine behind.

2. Maybelline – Dream Satin Liquid Foundation

This is one that I always go back to when I’m not feeling up to risking another foundation that probably won’t do what it says. It isn’t as long lasting as some but it does produce a beautiful air brush finish.

3. Bourjois – Healthy Mix Foundation

This one is great in the sun, it looks like I am not wearing any makeup, it just gives the illusion of happy, healthy skin. It covers up problem areas and lasts all day with a radiant glow.

4. Rimmel – Wake Me Up Foundation

This is my go-to foundation for the morning after. When I’m feeling and looking tired this foundation wakes up my skin and covers dark circles leaving me looking like I wasn’t up until 3am the night before, however rough I feel! As you can see this one is in need of a repurchase at the moment!

5. L’Oreal Paris – True Match Powder

I tend to not use this alone, I use it over a liquid foundation when my skin is a bit on the oily side. It gives a lovely matte finish and helps to set my foundation in place so that it lasts longer.

Sleek i-Divine i-Candy Palette Review

1Reviewed by Tams

I won this gorgeous eyeshadow palette from the Peach Parfait blog last week and I fell in love with it the second it arrived!

I’m head-over-heels-in-love with anything sweet related, even marginally, we even had sweet named tables at our wedding. So when this arrived with its uber cute candy packaging I was even more excited. Upon opening it, things just got better. The colours really stood out and have super cute candy names.

The next day I decided to give it a go, I couldn’t get on with the brush included so instead used my new Barry M shadow brush which I am also in love with and I’ll review it at some point.

Despite loving everything candy related I usually keep my makeup quite natural but this gave me the perfect opportunity to get creative. I absolutely love every single colour in this palette and it just goes to show that colour really is for everyone. I also adore that it has the black and white included, these are great for the eye-line and highlighting the brow.

Each colour comes out beautiful and they are very pigmented. Here are how they come out on skin:

Not only do they loo amazing but they blend really well too, pretty sure that by the weekend I’m going to have created a rainbow look, yes I am that crazy about this palette, it’s a job to choose which colours to use each morning. They also last all day which is a huge bonus. The Bon Bon, Aniseed and apple sour shades are also really shimmery and have looked awesome in the UK’s bright sun light.

This was the first Sleek palette I’ve ever used and I’m definitely going to have to get some more, they’ve blown all my other eyeshadow’s completely out of the water!

Shades I love most: Mint Cream and Blue Fizzle.

Look book: Summer Greens

photo-4This season I am in love with green. Green clothes, green nails, green accessories and now green eyeshadow. I normally like to keep my make-up quite natural but today I was off work so decided to have a little fun with my look and it turns out I love it.

I used the Sleek iCandy Palette which I will review over the weekend once I have had a chance to try out a few more looks with it.

I used a lighter green over the whole of my lower lid and then a darker one at the corner. I then mixed the lighter colour with a white for the lid to eyebrow area. A little of the darker colour is also under my eyes.

I adore how summery this has turned out and I am definitely raring to try out some new brighter, striking looks with the palette!

I have tons of new make-up to try out over the next week or so, stay tuned!

Benefit Posie Tint – Poppy Pink Lip and Cheek Stain Review

Until this product I had not used a lip & cheek stain before and I was pleasantly surprised. It was really easy to blend into the cheeks and lips and as lasted a long time.

It is quite a pale colour so really nice if you just want a natural bit of colour and of course it is multi-tasker too. It is really handy to keep in your handbag for lip and cheek emergencies.

It looks a really bright colour in this photo but once blended down it is barely noticable, but it can be built up for a deeper colour. It does dry really quickly so you have to be quick of the mark to get it blended in. It doesn’t transfer easily which is also great.

This is one of my top pics for festival essentials.

Love at First Sight – Benefit Fine-One-One Product Review

5Reviewed by Tams

I fell in love when I saw this product.

Benefit Fine-One-One has a 3 shades pink champagne, sheer watermelon and soft coral that combined highlight, define and colour your cheeks.  Its a beautiful sheer cream that instantly brightens your skin.  It can be used all together or individually on cheeks and lips and comes with a handy little tip booklet too.

At first sight I absolutely loved the typical gorgeous Benefit packaging however, it is quite a small item for £23.50 which is a little disappointing. I also adore all the colours together, they’re so beautiful!

1The way I like to use it is to just sweep from the rose of my cheek up to my temple along the cheek bone. Alone it is not very vibrant, it is quite a sheer blusher cream which is perfect for natural look during the day but for the evening I use either a MAC Blusher or Benefit box of powder over the top as well.

I love that this product is an all in one, it skips 2 steps for me saving me a few minutes each morning. It’s beautiful matte result also lasts really well all day.

You can also glide it over or pick an individual colour to go over over your lips for a qucik burst of brightness. It is definitely a handbag must-have!

I recommend this product for anyone who wants to add a bit of a pop to their makeup without going over the top.

What I love most: It’s really easy to use and looks natural.

What I like least: It is quite sheer so needs blusher too for evening makeup.
