Pretty in Pink

1

Happy Saturday!

So my brain has been bombarding with ideas to try out lately, the list is growing so fast I can’t keep up but this is what I love about blogging. As quick as you do one idea another springs to life. I’ve decided to do a series of colour themed posts on Saturday’s over the coming weeks. I am going to showcase my favourite products from each colour. Today is PINK.

I love pretty pink colours, I’m so girly yet for some reason I don’t own that many pink items, clothes or makeup. Sure, plenty of things have pink packaging but I don’t own that many with pink product but these are the favourites of what I do own.

Pink is so versatile, it look as natural o as out there as you want it to. Pale pinks are pretty and flirty whilst more vibrant pinks are playful and can me a luscious statement. Without further a do, here’s my best pinks.

Avon Speed Dry Nail Polish in ASAP Pink – I love the gorgeous shade of this nail polish, it’s like candyfloss. It’s super girly and summery.

M.A.C Powder Blush in Mocha – This is a dark pink, it’s warm tones and matte finish provide an elegant result and a deep flush. It;s one of my favourite blushers.

Avon Colour Trend Lipstick Pen/Crayon in Gone Pink – I love the shimmer on this product, I’ve nearly used it all up now but it’s really soft and easy to use and it’s a beautiful floral shade.

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Definer in Eastend Snob – This is a grown up pink liner and works well under darker pink lipsticks and on its own. It is very moisturising and it twists up rather than needing sharpening. I’ll do a full review of this at some point.

Avon Colour Trend Lipstick in Amethyst – I usually equate amethyst to the purple colour group but this is most definitely a pink lipstick. It is highly pigmented and again it moisturises well too. It’s a dark pink, perfect for every day wear and a gorgeous Autumn shade.

Rimmel Colour Rush Eye Shadow in 030 Siren – This is a very vibrant pink, perfect for when you want to make a statement. It lasts well and is very pigmented.

What are your favourite pink products?

It’s in the Bag – Melissa

I love Mondays for one reason only, and that’s that I get to share someone’s makeup kit with you all. I asked Mel to do this week’s one as I admire her unique style and confidence. She has a very punk look and is the lead singer of local (to me) metal band Hollow Heaven, check them out on Facebook.mel

Mel’s makeup look is striking, she definitely stands out in the crowd, and in an incredibly good way.  Mel is clearly a Rimmel fan and it is doing well for her. I also love her awesome Soap & Glory makeup bag. Without any more waffle let’s look at her top 3 products.

Barry M Nail Paint in NP47

Melissa loves to finish her look with a black nail polish to tie in with her punky outfits and makeup. This Barry M is her favourite because it gives a perfect finish. It also dries really quickly and doesn’t require too many coats, perfect for a busy teen looking for fantastic gothic nails.

I say: Add some nail glitter for a glamorous evening look.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation

Melissa has found that this foundation suits her dry skin perfectly. It is a slightly moisturising foundation and gives a good even, full coverage when used with a makeup sponge. It also lasts through hot and energetic stage performances which is vital for Melissa. It comes in a wide range of shades, Melissa uses Ivory and it matches her skin a dream.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeliner

Melissa tells me this felt tip eye liner is amazing for when she goes with a rockabilly flick line. It has a neat finish and is super easy to use. It dries really quickly and doesn’t smudge, it also stays put throughout the day/evening so doesn’t need to be continually touched up.

Thank you Melissa for letting us all see how you get your unique look, and I also love your pink hair right now too.

This is the first of sneaky peak into other people’s make up bag’s series. I don’t know about anyone else but I love knowing what other people use and this is the perfect excuse to be nosey!

First up is my bag but we have loads lined up. Above is all my favourite make-up as I definitely couldn’t fit it all in one photo! There is a total mixture of different products. My stand out products that I haven’t reviewed as yet are my Barbara Daily Foundation brush, The Body Shop Cuticle and Nail Oil, and Barry M Red lipstick.

I’ll start with this…

2This foundation brush was from Tesco’s range and was only about £6 I believe but it is by far my favourite brush. It blends my foundation into a beautiful natural coverage with no hassle. It is really soft of the face too. It needs a wash at the moment but that’s really easy, I just soak it in soapy water for a fe hours, rinse and dry and it’s as good as new!

Top tip: Always use a foundation brush, not hands or a sponge!

Next up is The Body Shop Almond Nail and Cuticle oil…

If like me you seem to have weak nails that damage and dry so easily this is the product for you! It strengthens the nail, smells great and includes a handy tool on the end to fix unruly cuticles! Within a couple of days of using it my nails are looking healthier and stronger!.

The last product I want to talk about is my Barry M lipstick in shade 21

3I love this lipstick so much, it’s not only my favourite shade but my favourite lipstick… ever!

It last’s way longer than any others I’ve tried, it’s a very sexy shade and really stands out. My lips also feel soft after using it, when I finally get it off that is!

Top tip: Use with Barry M lip liner and lipcote for a striking pout all night!

I’d also like to mention how awesome my Vitamin E Penelope Pitstop Makeup bag is… how cute is that?! I love Wacky Races and I have a mug to match too. I like that it’s a quirky, retro design! I keep the stuff I use every day in this so it’s easy to find!

Next week we take a look in Donna’s bag! If you want tp submit your bag for a sneak peak and a link to your blog email me on tams.watt@hotmail.com!

In the Summertime When the Weather is Fine….

2Reviewed by Tams

With the sun finally shining in Essex I had a hankering for gorgeous summer nails, I took a trip to Superdrug and among other things (Shh don’t tell my husband) I came back with these!

I choose a bright summer colour that is very on trend right now, I also thought I’d finally have a go at Gelly nail polish. I always love the colours Barry M 3provide and it was sooo hard to choose today but I went for Greenberry Gelly High Shine Nail paint, I also picked up the All in One Basecoat, Topcoat and Hardener.

I have really brittle nails so it was great to have an all-in-one that contains hardener. I painted on this as a basecoat first and it dried really quickly. I then popped on the nail paint which was really easy to use, even a novice like me got a great result!

The colour is definitely as beautiful on as it is in the bottom and there was no need to use the all-in-one as a topcoat as it is so shiny all on its own. I was a bit worried when I first put it on as it looked a bit of a mess but as soon as it dried it looked way better than I expected, it also only took one coat. The only thing that I found was a problem is the brush size, it is very small and I prefer a brush that covers the whole nail in my sweep.

I’m hoping that this nail paint will last a good few days, it seems pretty good so I am hopeful. Looking forward to showing off these gorgeous summertime nail tonight.

What I love most: The colour and oooo it’s shiny..

What I liked least: The brush size

Try it: Gelly High Shine £3.99, All in One £2.99, www.barrym.com

Caudalie Divine Oil Product review

Oil

A happy multi-tasking oil that isn’t greasy, sounds too good to be true!

This oil does everything, everything! It can be used on the body which I found particularly good on the knees and elbows. It can also be used on the hair to give it a luxurious injection of moisture and shine, I’d only do this once a week though. It is fantastic for nails or a sensual massage too. I haven’t tried the last one yet which a few drops in a hot bath but I’m convinced that’d be good too.

Caudalie does all these things really well and the scent is really lovely too. However, it claims that it is non-greasy and I did feel it was a bit on the greasy side for at least 30 minutes after using it. It is great to use at night before bed but I wouldn’t recommend it in the morning unless you have oodles of time to wait for it to soak in!

It is a great all round product, I usually buy oil treatments for my hair and massages separately but this does both in one at a very reasonable price so I will definitely by buying this when I run out!

What I love: That it does everything you want from oils in one bottle.

What I like least: That it is a bit greasy for a while after.

Try it: RRP £4.05 for 15ml ( doesn’t sound a lot but you don’t need much each time), uk.caudalie.com
