Yves Rocher France – So Elixir Purple Eau de Parfum Review

1Reviewed by Tams

I love how a scent can evoke an emotion, take you back to a place or a time and therefore I love perfumes and often use the same ones over and over again.

This one dropped through my letter box about 3 months ago and I’ve only used it recently. This one somehow smells familiar even though it is unlike anything I have smelt before, it instantly felt right, it suits my personality. Of course it helps that it is name after my favourite colour too!

This perfume boasts a unique infusion of Tuberose, Vetiver and Patchouli, I personally do not know what any of those smell like alone but together they produce a wonderful woody-floral scent which I love. It is a grown-up-scent without being a granny-scent. It is simply beautiful.

It somehow feels like a passionate scent, a scent that says I mean business. It is definitely on my list of items to purchase full size!

Top tip: Spray on the hotspots on the body for best effect, perfumes are best used on the inside of the wrist and elbow, collar cone, neck and under the ear lobe.

Just Keep Scrubbing, Just Keep Scrubbing – Olay Essentials Smoothing Face Scrub Review

Already on number 2!

As I bought my second tube of Olay Essentials Smoothing Face Scrub I realised I clearly love it.. a lot! I haven’t yet blogged about this one but at the moment it is a clear favourite of mine! It smells refreshingly clean and has lovely large particles.

The formula foams so well and after each use leaves a clear improvement. The large particles leave you with a satisfying scrubbed face and radiant natural glow! It also removes what’s left of my makeup without a problem.

My skin is less dry, less spotty and clearer after using this for a while. I also use other Olay Essentials items in my skin regime and they’ve never let me down. They are always well-priced and quality items. They also last a while as you do not need much each time!

What I love most: It is so effective at doing what it does!

What I like least: Nothing, I wouldn’t have gone back to it again if there was!

Garnier Summer Body Moisturising Lotion, Sun-kissed look for light skin product review

I know it’s been pretty glorious the last few days but that’s rare in the UK, so I decided to try a build-up tan moisturiser. Tanning lotion always  goes streaky on me and I have pale skin that only burns in the sun so I gathered this may be a way forward!

I loved the smell when I first put it on but a couple of hours later it just smelt like the normal biscuity self-tan smell which was a bit disappointing. However within a couple of days I did start to notice a different in my skin colour which I was very pleased with. My legs took a lot longer to catch up with the rest of me so I started doing those twice a day, they now have some colour but it is a bit patchy despite my best efforts to take care to get it even.

However, my arms and upper body look wonderfully sun-kissed without being tangoed!

My skin feels beautifully soft too. I give this a product 3/5, I’m pretty sure there is something better out there so onto the next one!

What I loved most: The colour was natural.

What I liked least: Patchy legs!

Anatomicals – Don’t just Clean it Woman, Scrub It Body Scrub – Product Review

ScrubReviewed by Tams

Exfoliation with a bit of comedy

I always have a little chuckle to myself when I see the packaging of Anatomical’s body scrub, little things please me, I hear one of my girlfriends voices saying to me “Don’t just clean it woman, scrub it”. Alas they would probably be talking about the baked on fat on my oven dish not my skin, domestic goddess i am not!

I do love the packaging though, it bright and eye-catching as well as being right down on my level… it gets my humour.

scrub1The scent is something I also love about this scrub, it’s a pink grapefruit scrub and smells lush. It has lovely big particles that get rid of every bit of dry skin without breaking a sweat. This scrub loves what it does and does it well.

It’s another great multi-task, probably created by a woman, it exfoliates, buffs and polish’s all in one and my skin feels amazing every time I use it. I do tend to flit around different body scrubs but I keep finding myself back at this one recently. I’ve probably mentioned before that I have quite sensitive skin and this one doesn’t irritate it at all. Although it does have big particles it feels gentle on the skin.

What I love most: How beautiful my soft feels after. Very reasonably priced.

What I like least: Can’t think of a thing and I’ve sat here the last 10 minutes trying to!

Perfect Pins – Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor and Gillette Satin Care with a touch of Olay Reviews

LegsReviewed by Tams

In my everlasting quest for perfect legs I tried some new products last night.

I shave my legs because although I’ve been through labour I can’t quite face putting my legs through the pain of waxing every few weeks. I try pretty much every new razor that goes on the market because quite frankly I’m very rarely satisfied. My perfect razor is one that shaves close to the skin but glides along the skin. Nobody wants stubble or razor rash!

I tried Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor and Gillette Satin Care with a touch of Olay and I have to say I was very pleased!

1

I’ll start with the razor, it has 5 blades that twist and turn with the curves of your legs meaning you don’t miss bits and it shaves very close. It also have a moisturising serum which helped the razor glide over my legs like silk, it was probably one of the least uncomfortable shaves ever, it also left my legs feeling soft. It looks very similar to all the Gillette Razors but the performance for me was better.

The shaving gel was also amazing and no doubt added to how soft my legs felt after. It smells lovely and didn’t burn my legs like most shaving gel’s do, it was soft and luxurious. This duo are definitely my new favorites and they were very well priced too.

I finished off with Garnier Summer Body Moisturising lotion – Sun-Kissed look to start building up a bit of a tan. The sun clearly isn’t going to help with that lately. This is the first time I’ve used one of these lotions and it will take a couple of weeks to build up so I’ll pop up a review of that when possible.

I feel like I may finally be getting someone on my perfect pin mission!

MAC Cosmetics Powder Blush in Mocha – Product Review

I love blusher. I’m very pale and without blusher I just look plain ill. I have everything from Benefit and MAC to Rimmel and Maybelline but this is one of my favourites. It’s right up there with Benefit’s Coralista blush.

I always apply my blush from the rose of my cheeks right up to the temple to give my face definition and a super healthy glow. I added some of Benefit’s High Beam to this when I used it too and it looks lovely.

When I first put this onto my blusher brush it didn’t seem very powdery and I was skeptical about how good it would look. Turns out I was worrying needlessly as a little bit goes along way and it looks awesome!

It also lasted really well throughout the day at work which is fantastic news and the colour was perfect, it is called Mocha but it isn’t a brown, it’s more of a rosy red which I love!

What I love:  That it goes a long way.. Economical!

Oh we do love a good BB Cream! Dr.Jart Premium Beauty Balm – Product review

We can’t all have perfect skin all of the time but we can look like we doDrJart!

I for one wish I had perfect skin without the need for foundation every day. This is why I love BB Cream it does enough to make your skin look beautiful without the need for heavy foundation. But it is so hard knowing which one to chose with the market swamped by them at the moment.

I have had this one in my make up kit a few months now and I love it. It’s perfect for those days that I’m rushing out for the school run and don’t have much time. It also lasts all day in the office and leave the skin feeling soft instead of abused!

The colour also matches my skin tone so well that no-one even notices the difference to when I am wearing foundation. It is gorgeously natural and also has anti-ageing properties.

This BB Cream also has a whopping SPF 40, fab for the fair skinned among us (the sun currently reflects of my legs). Beautiful looking skin and no more sunburnt noses… perfect.

It can also be used as a base under foundation, it primes the skin perfectly. It looks amazing on its own but this option would be good for a night out as it really does help to keep everything where it should be so you can focus on dancing the night away with the girls instead!

What I love most: That it has SPF 40 and performs brilliantly.

Try it: RRP £24 although it is in the sale for £12 at www.boots.com right now!

Almost Good Enough to Eat – Nip + Fab Coconut Latte Body Butter – Product Review

NipFabReviewed by Tams

Smells good enough to eat… but I wouldn’t advise it!

I never thought I’d cheat on The Body Shop body butter’s but this could seriously tempt me. I received the Coconut Latte one but it also comes in Mango Smoothie and Pistachio. Coconut Latte definitely smells good enough to eat and certainly lives up to its name and I’m sure they others would not disappoint.

This body butter contains Aquaxyl which boots moisture for 24 hours and as such its performance is equal to its well-known competitors The Body Shop’s version. Aquaxyl is also proven to improve your skins water reserves, leaving your skin much brighter and healthy.

I loved how deliciously smooth this body butter felt when applying, it glides on and my skin felt beautiful all day. It’s worth noting that the smell stayed around too which was unexpected and pleasant!

What I love: The gorgeous smell

What I liked least: I feel like I’m cheating on The Body Shop 😀

Guy Kremer – Frizz Fix Firm Hair Spray Firm Hold & Enhance the Shine Protection Serum Review

GuyKremer

My hair has never held so well or looked so good!

I have been using these products for the last month or so and I love them. I use the protection serum after every hair wash and it stops the flyways and tames my naturally wavy, frizzy hair. It also protects it during the copious amount of straightening my hair undergoes!

With fairly thick hair it can be difficult to keep curls in for any length of time but this hairspray performs spectacularly, it smells amazing too! Gone are the days of of the typical hair spray whiff.

Off to a wedding tonight so my trusty hair buddies and me are off!

What I liked most: Performance and scent

What I liked least: Could use them in a bigger can!

I always love a good multi-tasker! Prime, create, go!

I love any product that is going to save me money and time so I was pleased to receive Beautiful Movements Cosmetics’ brand new Prime & Create Mixing Medium last month. It can be used as a primer under your make up, mixed with eye-shaddow pigments to make a liquid liner in your chosen colour, mixed with foundation, blusher or eye-shaddow for a perfect airbrush effect. The possibilities are nearly endless!

My favourite way to use this product is mixed with my liquid foundation. I savour it for a night out and go out looking flawless.. well as flawless as you can get when you’re as clumsy as me! It only takes a tiny bit, about 1 part mixing medium to 3 parts foundation to dramatically improve the performance of the foundation. It is also fab mixed with a bit of blusher for a gorgeous matt finish.. perfect when you love blusher as much as I do!

What I liked most: The number of things it can be used for

What I liked least: Hmm… Nothing, I’m in love with this product!
